Who we are

Our vision is to constitute a nucleus of researchers, Brazilian radiologists, Computer and Exact Sciences professionals to develop a diagnostic aid program in the epidemic of COVID-19 in the state of São Paulo and in Brazil, through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Our mission is to develop innovative, effective and rapid implementation solutions for diagnosing COVID-19 in the state of São Paulo and in Brazil, in order to minimize the impact of the epidemic on Brazilian society.

AI as a solution to combat Covid-19

Three great benefits of using AI to control COVID-19.

Radiology Institute of HCFMUSP

The Radiology Institute of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo – InRad, comes from its creation through decree nº 39.469, dated November 4, 1994, fulfilling its mission before the FMUSPHC System and society to promote scientific knowledge, through teaching, research, training and capacity building activities of human resources, provision of health care and treatment services in the area of diagnostic imaging and therapeutic oncology.

InRad focuses on the quality of service, and this requires continuous investment in infrastructure, acquisition of cutting-edge technology, expansion of its services and, above all, the maintenance of its intellectual capital, aligned with a highly qualified body of professionals.
This center of excellence is made up of two buildings. The main one houses ambulatory resources of conventional and interventional radiology and radiotherapy. In the annex building is the Nuclear Medicine Center (CMN), a pioneer in the development of radiopharmaceuticals, produced by Cyclotron, for treatment and research in oncology and neurology.

The Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging is a national entity that officially represents the specialty in Brazil by bringing together specialist doctors in Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging and those who use one of the CBR methods as a secondary activity.

Part of the Scientific Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging of the Brazilian Medical Association (AMB), it is a non-profit educational, scientific, cultural and social civil association. Together with AMB, it grants specialist titles and certificates of areas of expertise through annual evaluations, requiring professionals to prove their theoretical and practical knowledge and thus enabling an ever higher level of excellence for Radiology in Brazil .

InovaHC, the technological innovation center at Hospital das Clínicas of the FMUSP, is a catalyst for health innovation connecting researchers, entrepreneurs, students and resources in order to generate solutions that make the journey of education, research and care more intuitive, efficient and iterable.

They are people innovating for people! Collaborative innovation is InovaHC’s biggest bet. The foundation of this movement is built through the implementation of a structure that supports the activities of the ecosystem, from the construction of driving policies to the definition of environments that encourage co-creation, collaboration and innovation.

The Technological Innovation Center – InovaHC, created in October 2014, has the main objective of encouraging innovation within the scope of HCFMUSP, managing the intellectual property generated in this environment, and providing means to promote the transfer of scientific, technological and cultural knowledge to the productive public and private sector, aiming at improving health. This general purpose is in accordance with state and federal laws, which are motivated to make technological innovation a strategic component of economics and development.

To this end, InovaHC seeks to implement a structure that supports all activities related to technology transfer and support for technology-based entrepreneurship. This initiative aligned with the Health Innovation Policy of the São Paulo State Department of Health (SES-SP), the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FMUSP), and other Scientific and Technological Institutions of the State of São Paulo (ICTESPs), and its main perspective is to assume a relevant and transforming role in the state and national health scenario.
